Holding one Michelin star and the title of No. 1  restaurant in Asia in 2023, Le Du surprised me with flavors that expressed culinary perfection. Almost every dish baffled me with unique components that made each dish flourish.

If you love food, Le Du is absolutely worth it. For the quality of ingredients and impecable flavors at a fair price, Le Du is one of the best fine dining restaurants I’ve ever experienced.

If you visit Bangkok, Le Du is an absolute must-visit restaurant.

For this restaurant review, I will start with the food first, then go into details about the dress code, reservations, and all the other important details at the end.

Please note that prices, menu items, and restaurant information may change by the time you read this. Please check with the restaurant about current details.

The Best Restaurant In Asia

Le Du began climbing the world rankings for fine dining in 2017 and finally made it to the pinnacle as number one on Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2023. Le Du is listed as No. 15 on the World’s 50 Best list and has maintained their one Michelin star status.

The name “Le Du” is derived from a Thai word meaning “season,” which reflects the restaurant’s focus on seasonal and locally sourced ingredients. The menu typically features a modern interpretation of traditional Thai flavors, blending classic techniques with contemporary styles.

The chef behind Le Du, Thitid “Ton” Tassanakajohn, is well-regarded for his culinary expertise and has gained local and international recognition. Chef Ton’s background includes education and training in some of the world’s top culinary schools and restaurants, which is reflected in the quality and creativity of his dishes.

Each table comes with a thick folded menu and a small card that shows illustrated details of each dish. I loved this presentation as it gave me a visual approach to the meal to keep track of courses.

Le Du specializes in Thai culinary flavors presented with contemporary techniques. Staying true to Thai cuisine, they accentuate the ingredients to represent the full extent of Thai food.

They offer two menu options: a four-course and six-course tasting menu with wine pairings available for each. Le Du also offered an additional special course of a Thai River Prawn for an extra 1,400 Baht, but my wife and I both thought the six courses would be plenty.

The Meal At Le Du

Grouper, Tofu, and White Chives

My wife and I both chose the six-course tasting menu with the six-glass wine pairing. I’ll tell you right away that I loved the wine and enjoyed every glass with every course.

Every dish came perfectly plated and beautifully presented which I expected from a restaurant of this caliber.

They started with FOUR different amuse bouches that set the bar high for the rest of the meal. The Kale Soup amuse bouche was one of my favorite dishes of the meal that felt perfect in every way.

My favorite dish was the Grouper with tofu and white chives. I still dream about this dish and how everything about it was perfect. The sliced grouper crunched nicely from the crispy skin and the sauces all felt balanced in a way I couldn’t understand.

A piece of fried tofu crunched like a perfectly fried crackling and the chives were marinated in a red pepper sauce that made every bite supremely unctuous.

This was the first tasting menu in years where I loved every single dish. Usually, restaurants that serve a tasting menu have a few dishes that I don’t prefer. Here at Le Du, every dish was delicious and perfect. I wouldn’t change a single thing.

How Much Is Le Du

Le Du is priced at 4,500 Baht ($127) for the six-course menu with an optional wine pairing for 2,500 Baht ($70) and 3,900 Baht ($110) for the four-course menu with the wine paring costing 2,500 Baht ($70).

Added to the bill is a 7% Tax and a 10% service charge that works in place of tipping.

For my full meal with all costs, the total bill came to 16,690 Baht ($470). If we opted to forgo the wine, our bill would be closer to 10,500 Baht ($296).

I find these prices reasonable for a Michelin-starred restaurant, making this fine dining experience more accessible to travelers.

Dress Code At Le Du

Currently, there is no set dress code for dining at Le Du. When asked, they say come as you are. Despite being able to dress as you like, I recommend avoiding, sandals, tank tops, hats, and sleeveless shirts.

I went in my customary grey T-shirt and green jogger pants. No issues and no complaints.
