Exploring the downtown shops in Estes Park is one of the main reasons why I love visiting this small mountain town. The streets are lined with wonderful boutique shops ranging from delicious sweet treats to beautifully painted landscapes.

Shopping in downtown Estes Park can be a bit overwhelming especially if you are only planning on spending only one day in town. This list comprises my absolute favorite shops in Estes and ones that I think just about everyone will love.

I don’t go over outdoor gear here or adventure apparel for your trip to Rocky Mountain National Park, because honestly, most of these shops are about the same. I go over the unique shops for an interesting day of Estes Park shopping.

1. The Taffy Shop

Throughout downtown, you will find multiple taffy shops with spinning taffy pullers rotating in the front windows. The Taffy Shop opened in 1935 and is the only place in town that makes their salt water taffy right in Estes Park.

My wife and I LOVE coming here and their flavor is better than any other taffy shop in town. Get a small bag and snack on these treats while you walk the streets.

2. Simply Christmas

Open all year, Simply Christmas is a beloved shop that showcases an extensive selection of Christmas decorations and gifts. Known for offering a wide range of unique and festive items, the shop specializes in personalized ornaments, making it a go-to destination for those looking to add a personal touch to their holiday decor.

The shop’s warm and welcoming atmosphere, combined with its array of Christmas treasures, makes it a magical place to visit for holiday enthusiasts and those looking to capture the spirit of the season.

3. Inkwell and Brew

I ALWAYS stop by Inkwell And Brew for a cup of coffee and a pastry. Located along the famous and beloved riverwalk, Inkwell offers a diverse selection of specialty coffees and teas, alongside a meticulously curated collection of journals, fine writing instruments, and artisan paper goods. The warm and inviting atmosphere allows customers to enjoy high-quality beverages while exploring a variety of stationery items perfect for every occasion.

I think Inkwell is the best place to buy something for the writer in the family. With unique pends to hand-made leather journals, it’s an inspiration just to walk around and browse.

4. Trendz

Trendz is a boutique shop known for offering the best shopping in Estes Park for gifts and home decor in the area. They offer a diverse collection of contemporary home decor, jewelry, decorative accessories, and gifts tailored to the Colorado lifestyle.

It stands out for its constantly changing inventory, which means I can always find something new and unique with each visit.

This shop represents a shift from the typical souvenir shops by providing a wide selection of distinctive items that cater to different tastes and preferences, making it a must-visit for those seeking special souvenirs or gifts.

5. Earthwood Collections

My go to shop for local artists from Colorado, Earthwood Collections offers a stunning selection of handmade fine art and handcrafts. This gallery is known for its diverse array of items, including paintings, glass art, and pottery, providing a wide price range that caters to various tastes and budgets.

Don’t be shy here. My wife and I bought one of our favorite pieces of art here which showcased aspen trees and the Rocky Mountains in a dazzling watercolor painting.

6. Wynbrier

The Wynbrier Wildlife Gallery is known for being the oldest and most unique wildlife gallery in the area. It showcases a wide variety of paintings, sculptures, leather goods, and other home products.

The gallery features an impressive collection of art that celebrates the beauty of wildlife, including works by artists such as Joe Slockbower, Jon Anderson, and Marc Pierce, among others.

My favorite part of visiting the Wynbrier is their selection of fine cigars and hand-blended pipe tobacco. Every few months, I enjoy trying one of their exclusive blends or grabbing a cigar to enjoy in the park.

7. Elkins Distilling

Elkins Distilling Co. continues the long tradition of excellent whisky making in the Rocky Mountains. It holds the distinction of being the town’s first legal distillery, a tribute to the craft that has been pursued in the region for centuries.

The distillery prides itself on using 100% Colorado-grown grains and water from the Rocky Mountain National Park’s watershed, ensuring a product that’s deeply rooted in local heritage.

I like to hop in for free samples and buy the occasional bottle of their bourbon to take home.

8. Old Fashioned Candy and General Store

If you want a fun store with unique treats, then the Old Fashioned Candy store will be the highlight of your trip.

Established in 1950, this quaint store sells a staggering collection of candies, ranging from classic chocolate bars and hard candies to unique finds like gummy bears, Pez, lollipops, and cotton candy.

For me, I come for the freeze-dried candy that takes classics like Skittles and puts them in a light and airy texture.

9. Ore Cart Rock Shop

The Ore Cart Rock Shop in Estes Park, Colorado, is a family-run business that has been serving the community since 1972.

This shop is well-known for its wide selection of rocks, minerals, jewelry, meteorites, onyx, fossils, and unique gifts and home goods, making it a must-visit for both serious collectors and casual tourists alike

I am always fascinated by their collections. It’s completely free to look around but you’d be surprised how affordable a small fossil can be. I think it’s a place to find unique souvenirs.

10. Colorado Cherry Company

I need more pie in my life, and I get it from The Colorado Cherry Company. I usually stop into the shop that’s located about 10 minutes outside of Estes on HWY 36, but they just opened up a small cafe in the historic Stanley Hotel.

I recommend getting a pie a la mode and browsing their selection of delicious cherry ciders and other handmade foods by local companies.
