Buenos Aires is a legendary food city with amazing meat, wonderful bakeries, and unforgettable pizza. With everything I ate, I want to share my absolute favorite meals in this in-depth guide so you can visit the best restaurants in Buenos Aires during your next trip to Argentina.
Buenos Aires: A Food Obsessed City
I never thought I’d find myself in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Dreams of travel usually float to Western Europe or Southeast Asia, but Buenos Aires was a surprising city with tons of remarkable food in all areas of the city.
Argentinian food traditions range based on region, but one item unites the whole country, beef. Grill restaurants throughout the city keep a steady wood fire burning for grilling super delicious meat. I learned that the beef in Buenos Aires tastes fantastic and way better than anything I tried elsewhere in the world. They take their beef seriously and it shows in the quality.
For my one month stint in the city, I ate at over fifty different places and condensed everything to this list of top Buenos Aires restaurants. I tried plenty of steak restaurants but also branched out into other aspects of the food culture that any food obsessed traveler will love.
Best Steakhouses In Buenos Aires
The most famous and beloved food in Buenos Aires comes from a woodfire grill. Everywhere in the city, neighborhood parrillas, pump out delicious steaks and grilled meats for tourists and locals alike.
I ate my fair share of steak in the city, trying both hole in the wall and world renowned steakhouses and these were my absolute favorites.
1. La Carniceria – Best Modern Steakhouse
Parrillas (grill restaurants) serve the quintessential meal in Buenos Aires, grilled meat. Most parrillas throughout the city have the same feel: old buildings, open kitchens, serving the same cuts of steak and sausages the same way.
La Carniceria is a breath of fresh air with young chefs and waitstaff leading the charge for the next generation of grill masters.
You need a reservation. My wife and I showed up about 15 minutes before opening to find a line of people already waiting to get in. Similar to Don Julio, those waiting are hoping for a no show reservation to get a table.
So we waited…for two hours underneath their awning while a torrential downpour soaked the city. Luckily we made new friends with two other tourists also hoping to enjoy one of the newest steakhouses in Buenos Aires.
After finally getting seated, we ordered the Homemade Blood Sausage, Homemade Chorizo, Parrilla Cut Steak, and Grilled Cabbage as the side.
EVERYTHING tasted wonderful. These chefs really know how to build off tradition and modernize Argentinian favorites. I recommend all of these dishes, but I want to talk about two.
The Homemade Chorizo came with pan seared potatoes, two eggs, and green peas, creating a dish unlike anywhere else you’ll find in Buenos Aires. The sausage itself was amazing resembling a mixture of kielbasa and bratwurst with a dense fattiness that mixed with the richness of the eggs and potatoes. SO DELICIOUS.
The Parrilla Cut is the special steak cut of the day and changes regularly. Today, it was a bone in strip steak grilled to perfection topped with sea salt, and accompanied by pureed pumpkin.
Just amazing! The steak developed a nice crust with a rich smokiness from the wood fired grill. Beefy goodness resounded with every bite, tasting better than any steak in the United States.
The pumpkin puree added a touch of sweetness giving my palate the needed occasional break from the two inch thick behemoth.

2. Calden del Soho Grill – Classic Argentinian Steakhouse
If you are searching for the classic Argentinian steak experience, Calden del Soho Grill serves up some of the best steaks in Buenos Aires. One noticeable but important difference between Calden and other steakhouses is the operating hours, staying open throughout the whole afternoon without a siesta.
This is a small detail, but important if you are crunched on time and don’t have a reservation for a steak restaurant. If you try walking into any of the other prominent steakhouses in Palermo, you will most likely need to wait, sometimes for hours.
We went during the early evening around 5 pm to a mostly empty restaurant. Argentinians eat dinner fashionably late starting around 8 pm, so we showed up early to beat the crowds.
We ordered a full course dinner with empanadas, chorizo, grilled veggies, and steak, with everything tasting amazing and perfect with their preparations.
The Ojo de Bife (ribeye) looked nicely charred from the thick grill marks and tasted slightly smokey thanks to the wood fired grill. The steak experience itself reminded me of a backyard barbecue, but in the best ways possible
I felt the American suburbia in that steak, grilled by a dad sporting the full barbecue getup with white New Balances, hiked up tube socks, cargo shorts, and a terribly punny grill apron. Yeah, the fresh off the backyard grill flavor made by a man who’s done this countless times before.
The steak was perfect with the right amount of marbling that melted through the rest of the meat, leaving me with juicy bites throughout. A delicious ideal steak. I couldn’t ask for anything more.

3. Santos Manjares – Best Steak Restaurant In Centro Buenos Aires
I usually avoid recommending restaurants around the main tourist attractions, but Santos Manjares is the exception to the rule, serving up steaks to locals and tourists alike.
I ordered the Entraña, skirt steak, which is by far my favorite cut of meat on the planet. Everyone should eat their weight in meat in Buenos Aires, but to leave without trying a skirt steak would be denying yourself a meaty satisfaction unlike any other.
Oh, and Santos Manjares absolutely nailed it. Cooked to a perfect medium rare, the skirt steak tasted so beefy, it rivaled the best steaks I’ve eaten around the world. I felt the juices run through my mouth every time I chewed, an impressive characteristic given the steak’s natural thinness.
My favorite part of the skirt steak came from the edges, which crunched nicely giving an extra texture component. The shape of the skirt steak naturally produced ridges in the meat, and when put onto a high heat grill, it chars perfectly giving an extra smokey element along with that crunchy texture.

4. Don Julio – Best Steakhouse In Buenos Aires AND The WORLD
I know. I know. Everyone says Don Julio is the best, but seriously IT IS. I ate at some of the best steak restaurants in Buenos Aires and Don Julio is in a league of its own.
The steaks tasted far beyond normal, with an intensity of flavor that surpasses all other competitors. By far, Don Julio is one of the best restaurants in Buenos Aires and I recommend everyone eat there. And I mean EVERYONE.

5. La Cabrera – Steakhouse With The Amazing Sides And Sauces
If steak craving diners cannot make it into Don Julio, most come here to La Cabrera. Like all great steakhouses in Buenos Aires, reservations are recommended but if you happen upon the entrance and decide to wait, they offer complimentary wine and a few snacks to those loyal enough to stay.
La Cabrera stands out from other traditional Argentinian grills with an eclectically decorated interior with old butcher blocks, cutting boards, trains, hot air balloons, trinkets, and knickknacks creating a relaxed dining experience made for all ages. But come on, you know I only cared about the meat.
My wife and I entered with a mission for a large slab of beef to satisfy the hankering for that Argentinian grilled steak.
We ordered the T-Bone, a hearty chunk of meat grilled to a perfect medium rare, cut tableside, and served with perfectly crisp fries. I really enjoyed everything about his T-bone on its own, but the steak came a little under seasoned.
La Cabrera does with for a reason, to showcase its array of different salts and seasonings. Out of all the steak houses in Buenos Aires, La Cabrera is the only one that puts an emphasis on the seasonings and extras offered with the meal.
The table comes with three different salts, all having their own purpose and profile for accenting the food. The steak comes with a garlic sauce, a sesame seasoning, and a beet sauce, all giving each bite different characteristics.
What made La Cabrera one of the best restaurants in Buenos Aires came from a sampling of all their side dishes, just a bite or two of each in little ramekins. These made a big difference for me, changing up my palate with the different sides, seasonings, to sauces. Everything mixed together made the dining experience extremely enjoyable and far different from other Argentinian grills. If you plan on eating your way through Buenos Aires, add La Cabrera to the list.

Let’s move on to the best lunch spots in Buenos Aires, Argentina. For me, a good lunch should be inexpensive, super tasty, and should leave you light enough to continue with your day. I make sure to include grills, bakeries, and pizza, marking all of my favorite places.
6. Hierro Parrilla San Telmo – Best Restaurant In San Telmo
The San Telmo Market showcases dozens of eateries with a unique shopping experience covering handmade jewelry to vintage furniture. In the center of the market lies Hierro Parrilla, an Argentinian grill serving up delicious steaks and unbelievable sandwiches.
My wife and I ate our fair share of steaks during our trip, and now we needed a short break. We craved something still grilled but not a conventional steak sandwich, so we decided on the Choripan XL and the Sandwich de Tapa de Asado.
The Choripan XL lives up to the name with a 200g pork sausage halved and grilled over wood coals topped with the house blend chimichurri. The sausage still snapped when I bit into it with strong herbal and slightly spicy chimi making its presence known. The hint of smoke is nice, giving me the homey backyard grilled flavor I love.
The Sandwich de Tapa de Asado is a roasted brisket sandwich cooked over seven hours and topped with chimichurri, lettuce, and smoked mayo. Super tender and packed with beefy goodness, this brisket sandwich is like the Argentinian cousin of an Italian beef sandwich from Chicago, filled to the brim with super tender, thinly sliced meat with plenty of oomph from the toppings and sauces.
I think the San Telmo Market has some of the best restaurants in Buenos Aires, and eating at Hierro Parrilla will make the trip worth it.

7. Los Galgos Bar – Overall Best Lunch In Buenos Aires
From my experience in any city, it’s hard to find great restaurants located in the central district. A little research goes a long way in preventing a bad meal when visiting the main tourist sights.
Los Galgos Bar is an excellent choice for classic Argentinian fare with notable awards from the city and even being featured on the Netflix show Somebody Feed Phil. Despite the renown, we appeared to be the only tourists in the whole restaurant. Porteños only and that’s fine by me.
We popped in for lunch one afternoon and ordered the Milanesa and their lunch special of Herb Chicken breast with sautéed veggies.
The Lunch Special sat protein heavy with at least 300g of chicken, giving me a fair challenge at finishing it all. Cooked with rosemary and oregano the chicken remained tender and juicy with plenty of herbal notes to carry me through every single piece.
The beef milanesa crunched under my fork, a great sign of proper tenderization. Crispy and well breaded, this milanesa tasted light while playing a great partner to the runny eggs and the triple cooked french fries. Yes, triple cooked to guarantee a crispy outside and fluffy inside.
I loved the combination of the runny egg yolk soaking into the crunchy beef and crispy fries. The Argentinians know how to eat.

8. Los Muchachos – Best Chicken Empanada in Buenos Aires
Pizza and empanada places are a dime a dozen, and I wasn’t sure if Los Muchachos was any different. I ordered a ham fugazzeta, a beef, and a chicken empanada, with the empanadas fried fresh and the pizza crisped in the oven.
The fugazzeta actually impressed me! It was a delicious slice with a healthy portion of onions with savory ham while still having the signature cheese pull that the fugazzeta is known for.
The beef empanada was tasty but the real stand out was the chicken. A flavor bomb dropped when I ate the chicken empanada, which tasted exactly as I dreamed with savory yet tender chicken packed with onions all wrapped in a flaky dough. It’s like a Chinese egg roll evolved and came out even better at the other end giving me this delicious chicken empanada moment.

9. Nuestra Parrilla – Best Choripan in Buenos Aires
I know many will disagree with me, but I’m talking from my own personal experience. Nuestra Parrilla at the San Telmo Market served me the best Choripan in Buenos Aires.
This little grill located by the western entrance serves delicious grilled meats at a fraction of the price of other places in the area. Split in half and charred on the grill, the choripan came piping hot on a toasted roll and kissed by smoke. I slathered on a healthy portion of their chimichurri and took my first bites.
The choripan certainly outplayed the rest I’d eaten in Buenos Aires with the sausage having a nice acidic bite. I think the chorizo was marinated giving it a red complexion. I really loved how the fat and juice from the sausage soaked into the bun spreading out the deep flavors into every bite. It’s very hard to explain but somehow the sausage just tasted better and I think everyone should give Nuestra Parrilla a try.
Paired with the herby and slightly spicy chimichurri, I ate the perfect lunch for about $4 USD.

10. Shiekob’s Bagels – Breakfast and Lunch Bagel Sandwiches
Depending on the previous night’s activities, sometimes you just need a cheesy, eggy, meaty bagel. A crispy bagel stuffed to the brim with all the delicious bits that will bring the day into focus. Yeah, I needed that one day, and I found Shiekob’s Bagels.
These New York style bagels came to my rescue recharging my nutrient battery to full.
I wanted the CEC, the corned beef, egg, and cheese on an everything bagel, with my wife ordering the BLT on a plain bagel and a sesame bagel with a schmear of cream cheese.
The CEC was an amazing sandwich that subdued my cravings. The corned beef hit the right characteristics with a meaty tang that mixed well with the seasonings on the everything bagel. The egg stayed a nice medium doneness with a loose, but not runny yolk which I appreciated since I hate the feeling of liquid egg running down my hands when I’m trying to focus on my sandwich.
Everything tasted better with the cheddar cheese, melting perfectly into every nook and cranny adding a delicious unctuousness to make a harmonious breakfast sandwich. Mission accomplished.
The BLT came out delicious with REAL American style bacon, ripe tomatoes, and crispy lettuce. Yes, finding real American style bacon abroad is actually challenging, so it was nice having that smokey bacon after being away for over two months.
Finally, the sesame bagel with a generous schmear of cream cheese for “dessert”. Nicely toasted with the aroma of warm sesame seeds, the bagel tasted wonderful with a nice crunch around the edges.
The cream cheese had an amazing unique flavor and tasted different from a generic store bought brand. I’m not sure if it’s made in house, but the cream cheese was mild and extra creamy making the perfect pairing with the sesame bagel.
I LOVED my all parts of my meal at Sheikob’s Bagels and think it deserves a space on this list of the best restaurants in Buenos Aires.

11. Pizzeria Güerrin – Best Pizza Restaurant In Centro Buenos Aires
Probably the most notable pizzeria in Buenos Aires, Pizzeria Güerrin serves classic Argentinian style al molde, a thick and soft crust pizza being served in the city for decades. Conveniently located in the Centro district, tourists hankering for that Argentinian slice can take a break from the sights to refuel on cheesy goodness.
I ordered the Mozzarella and the Jamon Fugazetta which were both crisped before being served to me. Toasty and delicious.
I started with the Mozzarella, which came with tomato sauce and seasoned with oregano. A delicious slice, but certain flavors sucked me through a nostalgic vortex reminding me of my elementary school pizza crossed with a freshly baked pan pizza from Pizza Hut.
I couldn’t gobble it down fast enough. Somehow the tangy sauce and melted cheese mixed with the heavily oiled dough to recreate that long forgotten excitement of Pizza Day, the best day of the week for any American elementary schooler.
Then I dived into the Jamon Fugazzeta, a heavily cheesed pizza topped with a thin layer of salty ham and doused in white onion. DE-LI-CIOUS. Just cutting into the slice oozed cheese out the sides, so I scooped up the cheese with my fork and did my best to manage the madness.
Both slices tasted delicious with Pizzeria Güerrin getting my approval as the best pizza in Centro Buenos Aires.

12. Obrador de Panes – Best Bakery In Buenos Aires
I find few places as charming and comforting as Obrador de Panes which is nestled in the historic San Telmo neighborhood. The setting comforted me the second I walked in with genuine smiles from the staff and the smell of freshly baked bread wafting through the air.
The bakery consisted of mismatched chairs and tables with vintage decorations lining the wall. It felt homey, like visiting your grandmother on a Sunday afternoon for pastries and coffee.
I walked over to the bakery counter where an overwhelming selection of baked goods awaited. The baker kindly walked me through her favorites until we landed on the Sweet Potato And Chocolate Tart with a coconut crust and coconut cream topping.
ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS. The sweet potato gave the body to most of the filling with a slightly sweet tang, and paired with rich chocolate, each bite tasted decedent and lush but still maintained a light and velvety texture.
The coconut crust and cream topping provided a unique flavor contrast that brought everything together.
As one of the best bakeries in Buenos Aires, I wished I tried more at Obrador de Panes, but I guess I need to return and spend a whole day eating through everything they make.

13. El Preferido de Palermo – Best Brunch Spot
If you understand Argentinian cuisine, then El Preferido de Palermo is the perfect restaurant, showcasing the best Argentinian dishes, but elevated to complete perfection.
Here, I ate the best Morcilla (blood sausage) in Buenos Aires which tasted beyond delicious and embodied everything I love about blood sausage.

Finally, we have the best places for dinner in Buenos Aires, highlighting restaurants that cost a bit more for the meal and serve bigger portions of rich food. Here, I highlight plenty of diverse options with restaurants that stay open late if you want that late night dinner or midnight snack.
14. Nola – Fried Chicken And Cajun Cuisine
Sometimes, I needed a break from all that delicious grilled beef and what better palate cleanser than fried chicken… no really, I needed some other fatty piece of meat.
Nola celebrates cajun flavors with inspiration from New Orleans, Louisiana. Reading the huge chalkboard menu above the cash register flew me straight to the Louisiana countryside where it felt like I was ordering from a mom and pop joint only serving their family’s secret recipe fried chicken.
Chicken and Waffles sparked my interest, an American classic that’s perfect for any time of the day, and I think Nola created their own delicious version. I am a huge fan of chicken and waffles and how the fatty, crunchy chicken plays with the sweetness of a syrupy waffle. The contrast is key and these chicken and waffles tasted like the real deal.
The chicken surprised me with a buttermilk marinade and a spice rich flour that created a super crispy, excessively juicy fried chicken.

15. Burger Joint – Best Burger And Fries In Buenos Aires
Burger Joint created one of the few burgers I actually enjoyed that wasn’t a basic cheeseburger. I’m usually a purist when it comes to burgers, wanting only the necessities of onion, pickle, tomato, lettuce, and special sauce.
Somehow I was drawn in with wafts of grilled meat floating through Palermo and I became hooked.
Don’t let the looks scare you. The ultra grunge appearance really adds to the charm with sharpie graffiti and partially torn stickers decorating the walls like a Chicago underpass.
My taste buds desperately needed something spicy so I ordered The Mexican, a grilled burger patty topped with jalapeños, guacamole, onions, tomatoes, cheese, and their house made “hot hot” sauce. Like one hot isn’t enough?
From the first bite, I held back the urge to moan like Meg Ryan in THAT scene from When Harry Met Sally because this burger hit all the right spots if you know what I mean. With my eyes rolling to the back of my head, I reeled it in and focused on the burger.
The grill gave the burger a backyard bbq feel that was crispy around the edges and pink in the middle with a kiss of flame for the right amount of char. Of course, the spice hit hard but pulled its punches just enough to keep my mouth from going numb.
Don’t forget the fries! These beautiful creations are the best fries I’ve eaten in a very long time. Hand cut and fried to perfect golden brown deliciousness, these fries alone make the trip to Burger Joint completely worth it, so you better not skip them.
My wife and I went back several times during our stay in Buenos Aires and have no regrets. Super delicious and a must try as one of the best restaurants in Buenos Aires.

16. Himitsu Kichi – Best Dinner In Buenos Aires For Sushi
For a high end sushi option, Himitsu Kichi offers an intimate sushi experience with guests huddled around the sushi bar as the chefs prepare a unique sushi meal.
Himitsu Kichi offers delicious creations that move beyond just another sushi dinner by combining Japanese sushi with the flavors of South America.
The Salmon and White Fish Nigiri were special, each painstakingly built with unique ingredients. The Salmon Nigiri came dressed with teriyaki sauce, clementine puree, basil oil, and pistachio. The White Fish nigiri came with chestnut and artichoke cream, and ponzu sauce.
Both tasted amazing with each maintaining its own characteristics and tasting completely different from each other. The Salmon punched with sweetness from the puree and saltiness from the teriyaki sauce.
The White Fish stayed mild but deep in flavor with the chestnut and artichoke cream blending well with the fish and rice.
My favorite part of the menu came from the Salmon Sashimi which came topped with a wasabi cream, crispy chili oil, fried garlic, and micro sprouts. Wow. The wasabi cream added a nice back heat as the crunchy chili oil gave the front end spice on the tongue. Everything together sang in harmony still making the sliced salmon the star of the show.
I could’ve eaten at least two more servings of the Salmon Sashimi without hesitation. Absolutely delicious.

17. Tufic – Best Ice Cream In Buenos Aires
After spending a month in Buenos Aires, I feel like ice cream is one of the main food groups for Argentinians. On almost every block throughout the whole city, someone is selling ice cream and with a huge variety around the city, I gorged myself on plenty.
Tufic gained my love with delicious flavors, cheap prices, and a late closing hour of 1 am, so I could enjoy ice cream goodness at almost any reasonable hour.
I recommend the Chocolate Suizo, chocolate ice cream filled with thin slivers of dark chocolate combined with caramel swirls, and the Pistachio, an ultra smooth pistachio ice cream that tasted bold but refined.
Combining these two flavors set my taste buds on a journey with cascading chocolate mixed with the buttery rich pistachio.
No matter where you are in Buenos Aires, Tufic is worth the trip, even for a single scoop.

18. El Gauchito – Best Beef Empanada In Buenos Aires
I ate my fare share of beef empanadas and I can say with confidence that El Gauchito makes the absolute best beef empanadas in Buenos Aires. This literal hole in the wall restaurant serves up a wide variety of baked empanadas and a few delicious sandwiches making it popular amongst the locals and late night party crowd, but don’t expect to find seating.
When I visited, I was lucky enough to grab one of two tables outside on the sidewalk and ordered more than enough food for two people.
The freshly baked beef empanada felt heavy in my hand and taking an immediate bite was a rookie mistake, almost burning my mouth from the molten meaty goodness. After a few moments, I slurped up the filling and took a hefty bite.
Like the best beef stew of your life loaded with onion and soft potato baked in a delicious dough. My stomach had room for at least 10 more, but I needed to save room for the sandwich that I ordered. Believe me, the beef empanadas alone are all I needed.
Since it’s one of the best cheap restaurants in Buenos Aires, I totally recommend everyone give the beef empanadas a try at about $2 USD.

19. La Alacena – Best Dinner In Buenos Aires For Pasta
The Italian influence is undoubtedly in Buenos Aires with pizzerias, and pasta joints scattered throughout the city. La Alacena offers a wide selection of unique, hand made pastas serving elevated Italian fare you can’t find elsewhere in the city.
I didn’t just want the Lasagna alla Bolognese, I NEEDED it. I’m not sure if anyone else gets in the mood for saucy, cheesy baked deliciousness but I do, and La Alacena delivered with a classic meat sauce lasagna with wonderfully charred crispy edges.
The classic flavors of tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella, and béchamel mingle together satisfying the Italian urges with a portion large enough to satiate my hunger.
My wife ate the Spinach and Ricotta Tortellini which came sauced with brown butter and basil. Savory, nutty but still fresh, the tortellini tasted creamy from the ricotta and brown butter while the spinach and basil evened out the heaviness. A well played balancing act that made La Alacena one of the best restaurants in Buenos Aires

20. Kbbq Parrilla Coreana – Best Dinner All You Can Eat Grilled Meat!
Come wearing stretchy pants because it’s all you can eat Korean BBQ baby! Here are the deets on Kbbq Parrilla Coreana. First, make a reservation online or you may be turned away. We were the only people who didn’t have a reservation and got lucky with finding a table right away.
They start you off with the customary Korean side dishes called banchan. These small plates are meant for sharing and eaten in any way you like, by itself or with your grilled meat.
Then, everyone starts off with a small selection of ALL their meat: ribeye steak, pork belly, bulgogi (marinated beef), spicy chicken, and sliced squid.
Along with the meat comes an array of sauces and small plates consisting of fried chicken, dumplings, fried pork, and green onion pancakes. Everyone gets these and they bring it straight to the table.
Grilling commences when they bring a bowl of hot coals to your grill. Eat away! I thought the service was great with constant grill changes and additional hot coals whenever they were needed.
The quality of the meat was wonderful, giving me the opportunity to cook everything how I liked it. The sauces threw me off a bit because they didn’t taste like real Korean ingredients and the small plates of food really weren’t Korean either, just the Argentinian interpretation. If you want authentic Korean flavors you might want to look elsewhere.
That being said, I still LOVED the meal and think it’s one of the best restaurants in Buenos Aires. I would recommend Kbbq Parrilla Coreana to any super hungry travelers looking to chow down on unlimited meat.

21. Mi Tio – Best Milanesa In Buenos Aires
I can’t get enough breaded fried meat and since the cuisine in Argentina highlights the milanesa, I needed to find the best in the city and Mio Tio in San Telmo takes the crown.
Practically covering the whole plate, the Chicken Milanesa pushed the fries to the edge leaving me with a behemoth portion of delicious fried meat.
The crunch on this was unreal, with each chew echoing like watching an ASMR mukbang. Despite the unreal crunchiness, the chicken stayed tender and juicy making the whole meal perfect.
With a squeeze of lemon, the acid helped break up the fried chicken flavors adding more depth and cleansing the palate.
What makes this Milenasa better than the competition is the breading. Other milanesas have a tight bread crumb that dries out during cooking. Here, the breading soaks up some of the frying oil but still maintains a perfect texture, reminding me of the best schnitzels I ate in Prague.
If you don’t want chicken, they also offer beef, or if you are in the mood, get a milanesa sandwich to make the experience different entirely.

22. La Mezzetta – Best Fugazzeta In Buenos Aires
Yes, this is a hyped up restaurant popping up on TV shows like Netflix’s Somebody Feed Phil and Street Food Latin America.
Trust me, La Mezzetta is worth the time, being one of the best pizza places in Buenos Aires and you will regret not going if you don’t snag a cheesy slice.
With plenty of options on the menu, there is only one slice that you absolutely must try, the Fugazzeta. This Argentinian creation came filled with mozzarella cheese and topped with thinly shaved white onions spread across the top. No sauce here and trust me, you don’t need it.
A life changing epiphany smacked me in the face while taking the first bites and hearing the song Melt With You by Modern English playing through my mind. So that’s what the song is about! They wrote a song about the fugazzeta’s super melty deliciousness. Absolute genius.
Seriously, the pizza tasted beyond amazing with so much mozzarella oozing out that I needed to twirl the cheese around my fork like pasta to stand a chance at eating it. The onions played an intricate role, adding sweetness and contrast to all the decadent cheese.
The crust felt crispy so I mixed bites from the front of the pizza where all the cheese began to flood and the back crust which held a crunchy texture with nicely caramelized onions stuck to it.
La Mezzetta is an absolute must when hunting down the best restaurants in Buenos Aires.

23. El Pinguino de Palermo – Something For Everyone In Palermo
It’s easy to pass by El Pinguino, an unassuming eatery in the middle of Palermo, and some may not consider it as one of the best restaurants in Buenos Aires. Looking in, you can see this is the type of place where neighborhood locals stop in for a sandwich during lunch or a steak for dinner.
After spending a few weeks in Palermo, El Pinguino felt like our own little slice of the city. Let’s set the expectations here. The food is good, but far from amazing. If you want an amazing steak, go wait in line at Don Julio. If you want a delicious inexpensive dinner that has something for everyone, El Pinguino is the perfect choice.
From our multiple visits, I recommend the El Pinguino Chorizo Steak which is 600 grams of a chorizo cut (sirloin) steak with roasted potatoes meant for sharing costing roughly $25 USD. Not a bad choice for a date night.
If you want a more manageable portion of meat, opt for the Entrana (skirt steak) which they do exceptionally well. Cooked medium rare, the skirt steak tasted like concentrated beef with a juicy middle with nicely charred edges.
Want something cheesy? Try an empanada or one of their many pizzas. I ate a fugazzeta that hit all the right components of extra cheese, thinly sliced onion topped with a few green olives. Definitely, a contender if you want a pizza but your friends want a steak or salad. El Pinguino is all about variety and they do them all well.

The meat in Buenos Aires truly takes meals to the next level, but I hope you branch out and taste the other offerings of Argentinian cuisine. With amazing bakeries, delicious pizza, and unforgettable dishes in between, Buenos Aires will be at the top my list when I return to South America.
