Best Brunch In Bogota
Who doesn’t love brunch? I usually eat my first meal of the day in the early afternoon, and brunch is a common occurrence for me in every city. Bogota surprised me with AMAZING bakeries and brunch spots that rival every other city in the world.
1. Masa 70 – Best Breakfast Sandwiches
Masa is a well known restaurant with several locations throughout Bogota serving brunch and baked delicious sweets. No, the multiple locations definitely don’t diminish the quality, giving everyone in the city the option to visit without needing to hike across town.
My wife ordered the Chicken and Avocado sandwich which came with cilantro, tomato, and cheese served on a baguette. The sandwich was a home run with the chicken staying moist and the entire sandwich working together to make a delectable dish.
I went for the Steak and Egg sandwich which came with roast beef, fried egg, caramelized onion, and cheese on rustic Italian bread. Completely delectable. I popped that yolk and spread it along the top part of my toasted bread like a sacred condiment. Savory, slightly sweet, and a most perfect breakfast sandwich, I’d consider my life better if I could eat this steak and egg sandwich every morning.
We needed to finish with something sweet, so we decided on the Carrot Cake Donut. Just writing this makes my mouth drool. The donut is topped with a sugary mixture that tasted like concentrated carrot cake. Absolutely wonderful and the perfect way to end our meal.

2. Al Agua Patos – Best Kid Friendly Restaurant In Bogota
For a unique brunch experience that is kid friendly, head to Al Agua Patos. The restaurant specializes in unique french toasts with both sweet and savory options available. The restaurant feels like a classic diner spot with an open kitchen, black and white checkered floors, and a duck as the mascot.
I ordered the Monsieur Cuack Cuack, a toasted sandwich with turkey, gruyere, and mozzarella, with a side of peaches and pecans.
Savory and sweet with a stunning crunch, the Monsieur Cuack Cuack, despite its cute name, is a serious brunch dish that knows how to throw down. The combination of the cheese made each bite extra unctuous while a large dollop of butter on top added a nice creamy component that melted into every bite.
My wife ordered a delicious parfait and tried their Pato-Go Nutello, a superior form of the American Uncrustable sandwiches. A generous portion of Nutella sat between two pieces of crustless white bread and toasted to golden brown perfection.
These are usually for to go orders but we couldn’t help ourselves and snagged one for the table. Crispy, warm, and chocolatey, we practically fought over every bite as I tried my best to score a few more bites.

3. Árbol del Pan – Best Bakery In Bogota
By far, Árbol del Pan is my favorite bakery in South America and serves my favorite croissant outside of Paris. My knees weakened as I walked in with the smell of freshly baked bread and pastries overtaking my senses, but I made it to a table and reviewed the menu for delicious brunch options.
My wife went for the Croissant with Egg and Avocado which came topped with micro greens and hollandaise. A sandwich of buttery delight, the eggs, avocado, and hollandaise created a captivating trio of richness with the greens adding a hint of bitterness to offset the decadent combos. The flaky croissant soaked up every bit of the saucy goodness sending us to a place of pure brunch bliss.
I ordered the Scrambled Egg Sandwich, a slurry of egg, caramelized onion, goat cheese, and bacon cooked together, topped with arugula and spicy house sauce served on a toasted brioche bun.
An epic sandwich for an already wonderful brunch. The caramelized onions added sweetness while the goat cheese added more body and depth to the scrambled eggs.
We finished with perfectly crafted lattes with a plain and chocolate croissant. These were the best lattes we tried in Bogota and you shouldn’t leave Árbol De Pan without a few sips of caffeinated perfection.

4. Mesa Salvaje – Best Brunch In Bogota
For a more full brunch experience, Mesa Salvaje offers mimosas, delicious breakfast sandwiches, and breakfast staples. After walking up the hill from the main road, we reached Mesa Salvaje with our appetites raging and ready to chow down.
I ordered the Grilled Cheese made with sourdough, cheddar cheese, roasted tomatoes, and chipotle mayo. The thick cut sourdough crunched loudly before my teeth hit the gooey center of tomato, cheddar, and mayo. A balancing act of richness and acid, this grilled cheese did my American side justice with the right amount of every ingredient.
My wife ordered the brioche French Toast, which came topped with cinnamon, gooseberry jam, bananas, and honey. The absolute epitome of french toast with the creative use of tart and sweet gooseberries that grow in Colombia.
We finished the meal with two lattes that came perfectly steamed, highlighting the uber high quality beans. Definitely one of my favorite cups of coffee in Bogota.

Best Italian Restaurants In Bogota
Trust me here: you absolutely must eat Italian food in Bogota. In my opinion, Bogota served some of the best Italian food I’ve ever tried outside of Italy. These best restaurants in Bogota were by far some of my favorites in the WORLD and I hope you give some of these a visit.
5. Emilia Grace – Best Restaurant In Bogota For Classic Italian Food
Walking inside Emilia Grace transported me to a New York City restaurant with exposed brick walls, high ceilings, and modern design. The menu proved comparable with a focus on American Italian with creamy pasta and red sauced dishes with a few kinds of pasta made in house.
We started off with the Charcuterie Board and a nice bottle of wine, my preferred way to start a meal. I enjoyed the spread of delicious meats and cheeses with the dips and sauces making every bite unique.
I ordered the Lasagna, one of my favorite Italian dishes of all time and Emilia Grace made a simple yet impactful version with a delectable bolognese sauce that remained deliciously vigilant amongst the pasta and cheese.
Every scrap of lasagna made a lasting impression with a proper balance between the ricotta, mozzarella, parmesan, and sauce with a wonderfully crispy edge.
My wife ordered the Cacio e Pepe, a beloved dish of simplistic perfection made from house fettuccini, pecorino romano cheese, and black pepper. Creamy and delicious, this cacio e pepe does differ from the traditional ones we ate in Rome, but still amazing in its own right.
The tangy pecorino livened up the fettuccini with freshly cracked black pepper adding enough bite to keep the tastebuds excited.

6. Sorella – Best Restaurant In Bogota For Pizza
Sorella feels like a home dining room with an open kitchen and delicious home style Italian cooking. Pasta is made in house, fresh daily with pizzas masterfully crafted in their brick oven.
My curiosity pointed me towards their pizza, because how great can Italian pizza taste from Bogota, Colombia? Absolutely amazing. I went for their Roja Pizza made with fresh San Marzano tomatoes, garlic confit, pecorino romano, and stracciatella cheese that’s made in house.
MY FAVORITE PIZZA of all time. Seriously. I’ll take this over the “authentic” stuff made in Italy any day.
The crust stayed perfectly crispy and rigid with a satisfying crunch. The crushed tomatoes added a sweet acidity that soaked nicely into the dough with the stracciatella adding a beautiful creaminess that I wish all pizzas had. If you love pizza, the Roja is a must.
We tried the Linguini which came Cacio e Pepe style with pecorino and freshly cracked black pepper. My favorite Caico e Pepe in Bogota for sure.
Then, we dove into the Entrecôte, a steak perfectly seared and topped with paprika butter, garlic paste, pepperoncini, and parsley with a side salad with anchovy dressing.
An ideal steak with a punch of flavor from the garlic paste. Every bite made me feel complete with tender meaty goodness.
Sorella Cl. 66 Bis #4-71, Localidad de Chapinero, Bogotá, Cundinamarca, Colombia
7. Veccina – Best Restaurant In Bogota
For me, Veccina is by far one of my favorite restaurants in the WORLD, and my absolute favorite restaurant in Bogota. The service was amazing, the food perfect, and every aspect of the meal came out perfect to my tastes.
We ordered all of our food at once with the server and manager both returning to the table to double check our order with a stark warning that we, in fact, ordered too much food. My grumbling stomach begged to differ, so we confirmed the details and waited for the onslaught of delicious plates to land on our table.
We started off with a starter of Grilled Oyster Mushrooms served with a confit egg yolk, coppa ham, and herb gremolata. A deliciuous umami bomb with the smokey mushrooms dominating my palate with the creamy egg yolk mixing in with the coppa to make a decadent sauce. The herb gremolata balanced out the intensity with sharp aromatics that highlighted the nuanced flavors.
For pasta, we ordered the Tortellini filled with ricotta and mascarpone and finished with brown butter and fried sage leaves. Every single bite burst with a flood of creamy cheesy goodness and the nuttiness from the brown butter added to the unctuousness, satisfying my need for heavy pasta.
Next, we dove into the Roasted Chicken that came already cut and covered in a heavenly sauce. The super tender chicken fell off the bone and I could practically squeeze the juices from the center of the breast meat.
I noticed chili flakes lightly dusted the surface of the chicken, which added the necessary spice to harmonize all the flavors. The sauce was a masterful creation, and although I couldn’t tell you what was in it, you better believe I mopped up all that delicious goodness with their house made bread.
The final entree came, a Strip Steak cooked to medium rare on the wood fire grill and doused in a black garlic butter. Yes, it was as delicious as it sounds. A hint of smokiness and a beautiful char created a scrumptious crust that gave way to a tender red center.
In addition to this, we did order a side of pasta, salad, two cocktails, and a dessert with no left overs in sight with plates practically licked clean. Despite their well respected warnings, we came hungry and left waddling out the door. Worth it.

8. Trattoria de la Plaza – Best American Italian Restaurant In Bogota
I felt like I ate some real deal Italian fare in Bogota, but I was missing my American Italian red sauced favorites, so we tried Trattoria de la Plaza for an unbelievably delicious meal.
We didn’t waste time with starters and made our order right away with our table filling to the edges in a matter of minutes.
Of course, I needed to try their Lasagna which came drenched in sauce and bubbling mozzarella cheese. A site of pure beauty, I carved my way in and didn’t look back with gobs of cheese oozing in every direction. I did my best to manage the chaos, but basically scooped the wonderful mess in my mouth and enjoyed every single bite.
I saw the Chicken Parm on the menu and needed to try it. It was everything I hoped for with a super crispy chicken breast swimming in tomato sauce and topped with enough cheese to send my lactose intolerant friends into a sudden coma.
This behemoth portion impressed beyond just the size but the classic chick parm flavors hit a home run with cheese, sauce, and chicken all working together in perfect harmony.
To balance out the red sauce, we ordered the Carbonara and the mushroom risotto. Both tasted great, but the risotto really stood out with the savory mushrooms and creamy rice acting as the counterbalance to the acidic tomato sauced dishes.
Trattoria de la Plaza Cl. 66 # 22-45 piso 2, Bogotá, Colombia
Best Asian Cuisine In Bogota
No matter the city, I always need my Asian food fix. With so much amazing food in Bogota, I was sure to find delicious options. We bounced around the city and found these favorites in Bogota.
9. Casa de Corea – Best Korean Restaurant in Bogota
Yes, I have a bias here, but my Korean side craves the classics when I travel abroad, and without a doubt, Casa de Corea served the best Korean food in Bogota.
Of course, we ordered Korean BBQ and we tried their Bulgogi, marinated beef in a sweetened soy sauce mixture similar to Japanese teriyaki. I like searing the meat at a higher temperature and caramelizing the outside without overcooking the meat.
Sweet, savory, and delicious, I was impressed with the level of flavor from the bulgogi, so we ordered their marinated spicy pork to follow.
All of the Korean side dishes, called banchan, stayed true to Korean tradition with the Kimchi stealing the show as some of the best kimchi I’ve tried outside of Seoul.
We also ordered some Doenjang Jjigae a fermented soybean soup with tofu that tasted wonderful with all the cooked meats. The soup tasted like a rich stock with hints of dried fish and mushrooms, giving a deep umami forward dish that only made me want more.
Casa de Corea Cra. 14b #106-18, Bogotá, Colombia
10. Bangkok Thai Cuisine – Best Thai Food In Bogota
Yes, Bogota also serves up delicious Thai food, and Bangkok Thai Cuisine shows up with bold authentic flavors I so longingly needed.
We started with the Curry Puff, a fried empanada filled with shrimp, potatoes, cilantro, and curry. A perfect crispy snack, these fried treats exploded with curry goodness with the spicy sauce packing enough heat to draw out the delicate nuances within.
I craved protein, so I ordered the Ga Prao, a wok cooked dish with seared pork served with rice and a sunny side egg. The pork came cooked with onion and peppers soaking in a delicious soy based sauce. I really enjoyed the taste of the pork with the rice and egg, a beautiful mixture of salt, fat, and protein all mixing together for Thai deliciousness.
My wife ordered the Pad Pad Ruam, a dish of sautéed veggies with tofu, served with a side of rice and bean sprouts. Although cooked vegetables sounds basic, the sauce really brought everything together, giving each bite a distinct characteristic.
Bangkok Thai Cuisine Cl. 26c #4-41, Santa Fé, Bogotá, Cundinamarca, Colombia
11. Shirai Ramen – Best Restaurant In Bogota For Ramen
Oh, yes. Delicious ramen. Not just a bowl of noodles, but the real deal, Japanese style ramen with stocks simmered for hours with layers of flavor packed into each bowl. A local recommended this place and I tried getting in three separate times only to be blocked by long lines or unexpected closure.
Trust me, Shirai Ramen was worth it! We ordered a bowl of the Shio and Shoyu Ramen which both came with chicken broth, noodles, sliced pork, spinach, and marinated egg, with the only difference coming from the concentrated soy base sauce used in the Shoyu ramen.
Perfect noodles, perfect broth, and perfect pork. This twelve seat ramen joint really puts together an amazing bowl that transports me back to Japan. The broth stayed light and flavorful with a little chicken fat clinging to the noodles with every slurp.
The sliced pork was tender and I enjoyed the intermittent bites I took throughout the whole meal. Truly a must try restaurant in Bogota.

Best Tacos In Bogota
Tacos are an ever present part of my life no matter the country. Great tacos are much harder to create than you might think, so I take this list seriously.
12. Insurgentes Taco Bar
A short walk up from the main road, Insurgentes Taco Bar made some of the best food we ate in Bogota. We sat at the bar, ordered Chiladas, and picked a few tacos from a vast selection available.
We tried Al Pastor, Chicharron, Suadero, and Birria Tacos, each having its own unique flavors and characteristics reminiscent of the killer tacos we ate while exploring Mexico City.
By far, the Birria Tacos took the spotlight as my favorite tacos in Bogota, with extremely well seasoned beef, gooey cheese, and a killer consomme. The crispy tortillas soaked up all that delicious juice when I dipped in the taco for every bite.
The mix of delicious tacos and a cool vibe made it an excellent spot to hang out and drink a few more beers.
Insurgentes Taco Bar Cl. 56 # 5-21, Localidad de Chapinero, Bogotá, Cundinamarca, Colombia
13. El Pastor Del Siete – Best Al Pastor Tacos In Bogota
As the name suggests, if you want to chow down on legit delicious Al Pastor Tacos, then this is the perfect spot. Unpretentious with a similar feel as the taquerias in Mexico, El Pastor Del Siete dishes up amazing tacos at a great price.
We ordered the Al Pastor, Suadero, and Chicken Tacos, which all tasted amazing in their own way, and of course, the Al Pastor tacos took first prize with a delicious marinated pork topped with a thin slice of pineapple.
The pork tasted zesty, with the strong spices coming through. Topped with their salsas at the table, I thought these pastor tacos represented authentic Mexican flavors, forcing me to gobble down a few more tacos before leaving.
El Pastor Del Siete Cl. 66 #19-85, Bogotá, Colombia
14. La Lupita de Cletus – Best Steak Tacos In Bogota
Located in the Paloquemao Fruit Market, La Lupita serves up authentic Mexican cuisine for hungry visitors and stall owners alike.
My wife and I explored the market with an awesome tour we found on Airbnb, sampling over two dozen different fruits. After, we needed something more substantial and savory so our guide recommended La Lupita de Cletus.
We ordered Arrachera (skirt steak) Tacos which helped curb the sweet sting of eating fruit for three straight hours. Juice from the steak ran down the center of the corn tortillas as I picked up the taco for the first bite. A good sign to be sure.
The steak tasted perfect with nice char from the flat top grill and the small side of guac helped add more deliciousness with a mellow contrast. Delicious and a perfect end to a day at the market.

Best Restaurants in Bogota For Steak and BBQ
Steak and barbecue are a thing in Bogota with amazing restaurants that specialize in each. If you are hungry for some protein, Bogota has you covered.
15. Restaurante 69 Gauchos – Best Steak In Bogota
When I visited Buenos Aires, the Argentinean steak house won me over with delicious grilled meats at affordable prices. Here, at 69 Gauchos, they bring the Argentine tradition to Bogota with beautiful meat that represents steak house classics while remaining true to their Colombian roots.
My wife ordered the Entraña, Skirt steak, cooked to a perfect medium rare. A juicy and delectable steak, the cooks at 69 Gauchos brought me back to the Parrillas of Buenos Aires in the blink of an eye.
I tasted the smokiness from the fire with thick marks from the grill adding a nice char across the meat. Skirt steak tastes different from classic cuts like ribeye or strip with a strong grain that picks up flavor from the grill and seasonings. The intramuscular fat makes each section of the meat extra juicy which also helped in the caramelization process on the grill.
I ordered the Sanduche de Chivito, which translates to little goat sandwich. The sandwich was neither small nor made with goat, but it was super tasty with a perfectly grilled steak tenderloin, smoked bacon, mozzarella, caramelized onion, and a sunny side egg.
The flavor packed dish stood out with everything I could possibly want on a sandwich that satisfied my need for meat, cheese, and much more.

16. 716 Steakhouse – Best Restaurant In Bogota For Colombian Beef
For a taste of home grown Colombian beef, look no further than 716 Steakhouse on the north end of Bogota. Here, they serve steak from all around the Americas with a special section of the menu reserved just for Colombian beef.
We decided to go big and ordered the Colombian 1000g Porter House steak paired with a whole roasted garlic clove and house sauce on the side. This behemoth steak came rested, pre sliced, and ready for the table.
Who doesn’t love a porterhouse? The steak tasted delicious but different from what I expected. There was sufficient fat along the edges and the meat tasted a bit more minerally with less intramuscular fat. I enjoyed the steak with bites of soft garlic and tangy sauce.
716 Steakhouse Cl. 119b #6-28, Bogotá, Colombia
17. Oak Ahumados & Brebajes – Best BBQ In Bogota
Smoked barbeque in South America? YES PLEASE! Oak takes traditional American style smoked bbq and adds its own unique spin to create delicious dishes with a fresh perspective.
Oak is actually one of the best restaurants in Bogota that I miss the most, because everything tasted familiar, yet felt new and exciting.
We ordered a ton of food with a few starters, sides, and entrees. For me, the Chicharron Crocante was my favorite dish with smoked and baked pork belly that resulted in an ultra crispy exterior with a soft and juicy interior. Paired with their white bbq sauce and Boyacense stew puree, every bite tasted amazing with bursts of interesting flavors coming at all fronts.
The BBQ Pork Nachos were a surprise with thick fried tortilla chips, bbq pork, and shaved Colombian cheese. The sweet bbq sauce and cheese melted nicely on the tongue creating a sweet savory combo that left me reaching for another fully loaded chip.
For a feel of how the smoked meat stood on its own, we ordered a Smoked Spare Rib topped with their signature bbq sauce. Fall off the bone tender and with the right amount of smoke, this rib tasted better than 90% of barbeque joints I visited in the states.
I could go on about the superb Pork BBQ Sandwich, Brisket Mac and Cheese, Whiskey Old Fashioned, or their Smores dessert, but I need to keep this guide somewhat concise.
Oak Ahumados & Brebajes Cl. 69a #10-15, Localidad de Chapinero, Bogotá, Cundinamarca, Colombia
Best Burgers In Bogota
In Bogota, any piece of cooked meat between bread is considered a burger, and with burger shops popping up all around the city, it’s hard to determine which ones are worth the time. I took this heavy burden upon myself to give you my favorite burgers in Bogota.
18. La Cosmically Polleria y Cerveceria
I am always searching for a chicken sandwich spot in every single city I visit, and Bogota was no different. La Cosmically Polleria specializes only in fried chicken sandwiches with plenty of creative options for every type of eater.
I absolutely needed to try the Triple X, their classic chicken sandwich tossed in a devilish bright red spice mixture perfect for the masochist in need of pain.
Let me start off with this: yup, it was painfully hot. I coughed from the intense fumes before I took my first bite and I endured the initial pain before my taste buds adjusted. Their ranch like sauce helped cool down everything but I still felt the intensity throughout the whole meal.
That being said, the chicken crunched nicely from proper battering and frying, and I enjoyed the overall taste despite my perfuse sweating.
My wife picked a more reasonable option, the K-Pop, a Korean style chicken sandwich with a sweet and sour sauce topped with pickled cabbage and radish.
Super tasty. Simple as that. The sandwich is loaded with texture from the fried chicken and the toppings with the sweet and sour glaze reminding me of the marinade used for Korean bulgogi or galbi. Delicious and a place I would gladly eat at again.
La Cosmically Polleria y Cerveceria Cl. 62 #9A-28, Bogotá, Colombia
19. Home Burgers – Best Burger In Bogota
If you read any of my other blog posts or listened to the podcast, then you may know about my fondness for basic American cheeseburgers.
I enjoy a no frills approach to the classic, topped only with the essentials and only with American style cheese. No swiss. NO MUSHROOMS and no fried accoutrements.
Home Burgers serves the basic American smash burger in the best possible way topped with lettuce, tomato, onion, house sauce, and American style cheese.
The patiently created caramelized crust on the outside of the burger patty holds all the delicious goodness. The bun remained sturdy with a firm toast on one side. Each table comes with its own sauce caddy filled with every type of sauce meant for burgers.
Amazing and perfect in its simplicity, Home Burgers, by far, created the best burger in Bogota.

20. Burger Music – Best Burger In Bogota With Creative Toppings
If you crave a thicker patty with more toppings, don’t worry, I didn’t leave you out. Burger Music makes a variety of burgers with enough toppings for every appetite. I, of course, stayed with the Traditional, which came topped with lettuce, tomato, onion, and cheese.
The burger came perfectly pink, cooked to a solid medium to American standards, and it tasted as delicious as it looked. What I didn’t take a picture of was the plethora of sauces that were available in huge containers to be enjoyed in mass quantities.
Ketchup, bbq, mayo, garlic mayo, cocktail, and many others. I took a pump from each and mixed and matched the flavors to fit my mood.
A delicious burger that satisfies on all levels.
Burger Music Cl. 69a #5-59, Localidad de Chapinero, Bogotá, Cundinamarca, Colombia
